Welcome

Welcome to our family recipe blog! Jeremy and I have recently discovered how much we love cooking and trying new recipes together. We wanted to have our favorite recipes, both old and new, up online for others to try as well; this is a collection of old family recipes, brand new recipes from online, and everything in between. I will try to give credit where it's due at the beginning of each recipe. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

Tips

  • When ever you are boiling something (noodles, potatoes) you need to flavor the water with salt LOTS of salt, like a handful of it. I know it seems like a lot, but it really should be that much; the water should taste like sea water. This is how the noodles and potatoes get the flavor.
  • When searing meat it needs to be dry: pat it down with paper towels; if you don't it will steam rather than sear and you won't get the nice crisp you are looking for.
  • When cooking pasta you should cook it until it is al dente or has just a little bite; then finish cooking the noodles in the sauce.
  • Keep some of your flavored pasta water before draining your noodles; you can then use it in your sauce. The starches and flavor from the pasta water make a great addition to sauces.
  • When you are grilling hamburgers make an indent in the middle because the middle tends to puff up more than the edges and this way you get a nice even patty. Also NEVER squish or press down your patties because you lose the juices which have all the flavor.
